Stefan Leber who will start his Ph.D. at the Institute of Biomedical Informatics has won the TÜV Austria Wissenschaftspreis 2014.

TÜV Austria will support him during his Ph.D. work where he will investigate the impact of medical IT risk management in health care institutions. Supervisor for his Ph.D. thesis is Prof. Dr. Elske Ammenwerth

The working group "drug information systems" which is lead by Prof. Dr. Elske Ammenewerth (UMIT) and Dr. Manfred Criegee-Rieck (Erlangen), received the award "Team of the year" of the German Society for medical informatics, biometry and epidemiology (gmds).

The price honours "outstanding activities and excellent teamwork". The working group coordinates and conducts activities on the use of IT in medication mangement.

In July 2014, a group of professors and students from the Institute for Biomedical Informatics participated in the IPHIE MasterClass 2014 in Taipeh/Taiwan. IPHIE stands for International Partnership of Health Informatics Education and comprises a group of 7 universities worldwide offering a health informatics programme.

Elske Ammenwerth has been elected to membership in the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI). The American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) is a college of elected Fellows from the U.S. and abroad who have made significant and sustained contributions to the field of medical informatics.
